Formerly Tally Thrifty Mommy, which discussed only money saving things, now a blog about a mom who not only does her best to save money (and share it with you) but also daily adventures as a babywearing (BW), cloth diaper (CD), attachment parenting mommy.

For my Babywearing Mommy Friends, I would like you to read this...
Heavenly Holds Blog has a very interesting article, with important information regarding baby wearing. Even if you are not wearing your baby, but know someone who is, please share this with them. I have learned A LOT in my 11 months as a mommy, and this is just one of those things I feel strongly about. And if you decide to go looking for baby gear, use one of the links on the blog, so they know you saw it on my blog!
Comments Should be Fixed
I went through the blog and made some changes so now all readers should be able to leave comments. Let me know if it doesn't work.
well.....things are slow here
My desktop is still being worked on, and I am slacking on bringing in a 2nd or 3rd helper to write articles for the blog. But I have discovered some new things this week, and will spend Monday reading and researching stuff. Hopefully I can churn out a few articles for it. Plus, with the holidays coming up, I am sure that there will be plenty of chatter about what everyone will do for gifts.
And to add to the interesting reading information, I think I may even add in life as a SAHM as something I blog about. Since motherhood has consumed my life now (and so is planning his 1st birthday! whoohoo!)
Wonder if we can change the name of the blog???

Technical Difficuties....
I have been working from my laptop (while my desktop gets some work done) and have had the unluckiest of weeks with attempting to post anything this week.I have also gotten emails about readers not being able to leave comments, and I am looking into it. Right now the best option I can offer is that if you would like to leave a comment and follow this on Facebook, leave your comment under the blog post link. Or you can email me your comment and I will try to manually post it, no guarantees tho.

Repurposing Items..and Thrifty Ideas
repurposeful is a handy blog that talks about re-purposing various items around the house, which we all know in today's economy, we can use it.
Freebies??
I see a lot of times there are other bloggers who get free stuff to try out just for the review that they give the company (not to mention we all know that they will blog about) I have written about a few different sites where you can get freebies and good coupons, but usually it's a trial size. And that is good too, because I know I wouldn't want to get a box of garbage bags that I come to hate.

Car Repairs
In this economy, it seems like the price of EVERYTHING continues to rise. My loving husband, who is an ASE certified (and re-certified) technician, is willing to work on vehicles for the cost of supplies and a minimal fee. Work is only done on weekends, and can be scheduled with me. So if you have anything that needs to be done, please email me. **tell your friends**

Attn Thrifty Mommies!!!
I am really getting back into the swing of things, and have found yet another resource that, for those of us who do not mind anything 2nd hand, you might just love this. It's a website called Swapmamas.com, where moms swap all kinds of stuff for the kiddos, and even stuff for mommies and daddies! If you are seriously, truely interested, and would like me to refer you ( I don't know if this will automatically add you to my friends, but it's worth a shot) just email me or find me on Facebook and shoot me a private message.

Making Money from Home
I know that I briefly touched base on this last week, as I found a website, odesk.com, that allows people to work from home for various companies/individuals. I have actually be on a job since last week, applied to several other jobs, and went through an interview. While you may find that there are many jobs that are available, it seems to me that many of the jobs are giving to people in other countries simply because it does not cost as much to employ people outside of the United States. The job that I did get, is a very simple, 30 minutes a day job. While it is not minimum wage, it is still a little bit of money.
Unfortunately the job interview did not go well due to the interviewer's lack of understand the English language. But I have faith and hope that I will find something else out there.

Attention Moms!
I have found a website this morning that I want to share with ALL the moms out there. MomCentral.com is a website that has tons of moms and bloggers who share information about all kinds of stuff. One blogger, DealSeekingmom.com , wrote about how she was "trying out" a Whirlpool washer and dryer (which is really how it caught my attention!) So if you like hearing about stuff before you buy, or just want to connect with other moms, I encourage you to check this site out.

Working at Home
Lately we have seen an abundance of online sources that claim to have legitimate jobs that allow you to work at home. But which ones are real and which ones are not? That is an excellent question at this point. I have seen too many that say everything a stay at home mom wants to hear, but then they want money. So today we are looking at a website that truly allows you to work from home, and you don't pay a penny into it. oDesk.com allows you to use your skills from whatever training or schooling you have done, and use it to gain employment with companies that need your skills. I'm not just saying this because I read it on someone else's blog. I went on this website myself, with the few skills that I have, and obtained a job, and actually started working.

Supporting Local Businesses
Over the weekend I have made new discoveries for those of us who are always looking to save money. On North Monroe Street, next to Domino's, there is a Thrifty Groceries store, much like a dent and bent store, where you can get all kinds of grocery items (non perishables) for cheaper than retail price. Upon checking out, I learned that when you spend $10, they enter you in a drawing to win $100 cash. They do this drawing every month!!
Along with the super cheap groceries, I know that many people I know have diet restrictions that do not allow them to eat regular pastries and baked goods. Well, I have news for them!!! There is a new baker in town, and while there is not a set location at this time, Desserts Anonymous does special order desserts. They will attempt to make anything you request, and so far they are 100% successful at making everything. "Like" them on Facebook! (Maybe eventually we can get a discount for liking them!)

On that same "thrifty" note this week......
I know that earlier this week I posted about Etsy.com, a website where a great many people promote their items for sale, mostly handmade, and very unique. Also, I have noticed that there is a great deal better quality in what I see on this site as compared to other sites.
However, today's post isn't about a website, it a shop right here in Tallahassee, where I shop frequently and continue to introduce my friends to. It's Lucky Duck, Resale for Autism, located at 3244 N Monroe St. It's in the shopping center almost directly across from WalMart, behind the Scissor Works Salon. There are clothes racks outside, with clothes for $1 a piece, along with a great deal of items for a great discount. All clothing inside is $3 unless it has a tag (which means it's BRAND NEW) and those are $5. Plus lots of goodies for the children, household stuff, you name it, they probably have it. They even have a Facebook page, so be sure to check it out!!

Are you crafty???
Are you a crafty person? Do you sew, or paint, or make small little things? I have found this website full of handmade things, Etsy.com, and I wouldn't be passing this on if I didn't like what I see. I also think that those of you who are artsy could definitely benefit from being able to do small things you enjoy and make money doing it.

Freebies!!!
Who doesn't like getting stuff for free, even if it's just samples and coupons?? MySavings.com is a fantastic site to do just that. You can get daily emails with what is new on the site, or just check it on a regular basis to see what is there.
Some days....
If you have been following my blog, I'm sure everyone noticed that last week, after I had posted about posting at least once a week. After having posted THAT, city workers were out cutting and cleaning and took out my cable lines. : ( SO I was without cable for an entire week. But now I am back and (hopefully) will be able to stick to the original plan!!

Printable Coupons site
Sorry it has taken me so long to get a new post up, had some technical difficulties with the computers. Anyway, while looking for coupons this last week (well yesterday and today) I have discovered that one webpage comes up quiet frequently, AND so far have not found an invalid or expired coupon link! For us coupon users, that is a great sign. Mommy Saves Big is an awesome site and I encourage everyone to look, utilize and pass it on. With everything that has been going on, this economy is harsh, and I know that even if you don't really feel like you need to save every penny possible, it's always nice to be able to, and know there are resources out there.

Extreme Couponing on TLC...what's your take?
I have watched a few episodes of TLC's new show Extreme Couponing, and I've noticed a few things that some might say are a little disturbing. Many of the people profiled on this show purchase items in bulk, sometimes even buying out the store's stock. Several of the people on this show are overweight, but we watch as they purchase many items that are considered unhealthy. I have also noticed that on each episode I have watched, these people have stockpiles of products they don't need, and they aren't donating items either. From what I have found online regarding these people, only 2 people that have been profiled on the show donate items (and they donate the majority of what they get). I'm glad that there are people out there who are now on television to show the country (or the world) that it is possible to use coupons and get things for super cheap.
Online Circulars for Harvey's and Winn Dixie
Thought I would try something a little different today, consolidating 2 posts into one, for both of the circulars that have sales starting today. Harvey's sale paper has some pretty good deals in it, and if you have coupons it makes some of the deals even better. Winn Dixie has some good B1G1 deals, and of course remember to use your coupons and make it cheaper. Remember, one coupon for the item you pay for and one coupon for the item you get free. Happy Shopping!

Where will the economy go from here???
While much of the country is celebrating the fall of the world's most wanted terrorist, those of us who sit here and clip coupons and save pennies as part of our daily routine to save money in this economy, is anyone thinking about where gas prices are going after this? Are we trusting that these other countries are going to continue to sell to the United States, or are they going to turn their backs on us now? As a disabled veteran, I have mixed feeling on the death of Osama bin Laden. Yes, it is a relief that he is no longer a threat. But since America has become a country of more import than export, is anyone wondering if any countries we do business with will discontinue doing business? I am interested in seeing where things go from here.

Exreme Couponing
Has anyone else really watched this show? I missed it this week and was hoping to catch it on Xfinity, since it is not On Demand yet. They only have video clips from it, so I watched those. Some seem a bit crazier than even what I have seen on TV. One woman spends $70 on coupons and another goes to the local dump to get coupons. While both are very shocking, and neither is in my future, I think I would rather go to the dump (it is actually a very organized dumpster that this woman goes to) before I spend (WASTE) money on coupons. And so I will go back to clipping my coupons now. :)

What is considered "thrifty"???
I have been seeing a great many posts from other websites where you pay a great deal of money for a "deal". I have never thought once about passing on any of these, because I really don't feel that these items that costs a great deal to be anything that is absolutely necessary. Or magazine subscriptions, now that I am sitting here going through these emails that I receive, to pass on to you! Is a magazine something you would need/use on a regular/daily basis?
I personally prefer to have the deals that are on the groceries and every day items that we use on a daily basis.
If you would like for me to pass on the more high priced deals, please let me know.

Coupon Binders
After much work and deliberation, my coupon binder is almost totally complete. I am very happy about this, and once this is finished I can go back to my typical daily housework. I find that this new binder, while much MUCH bigger than what I had previously for coupons, is much more organized, and after doing a little bit more research have decided that no future shopping trip will go without a preplanned shopping list (which means more work) and of course coupons that go along with that shopping list. I have had all day to ponder what I saw last night on the new TLC show, Extreme Couponing, and maybe it will be a big payoff for me. I don't really know. All I can do is experiment and see where it gets me. And of course come home and share it with you. :)
Exreme Couponing show on TLC
I don't know how many of you out there are aware of this show, but there is a new show on TLC called Extreme Couponing. I watched the first of two episodes last night, but was turned off by the second episode. It's just strange that they show us these people who are capable of getting $600 worth of groceries for $6 but they don't show us HOW. I wish they would show us HOW!!! Either they need to expand on what these women are doing or something. I follow several blogs of other women who are coupon clipping and doing similar things to what the people on this show are doing.

Shop Online Much??
I know that many times there are things we want or need but are not able to find locally. So many times we find ourselves ordering something online, and we get nothing for it. Well now there is a site we can use to make money when we shop online. Ebates.com was recently mentioned to me by a friend who lives in an area where there is almost nothing, so she uses this. I just started myself, and wouldn't tell you about it if it wasn't something good. Buy online, and get a little cash back. They pay out 4 times a year, so if you use it, it's like having money stashed. You can also get money for friends who sign up. So check it out and if you like it, sign up. (The above link is also the referral link saying I sent you!)

Food For Thought.....
For those of you out there who clip coupons on a regular basis, do you find it difficult to organize your coupons? For me, even having one of those little "organizers" with the pre-labeled dividers is a hassle. Coupons fall out, I can't find a coupon fast enough, I get frustrated, and it ends up in a big mess. And personally I don't feel like there are enough dividers done right. I have *hopefully* found a solution to this problem, thanks to A Thrifty Mom. She has an entire page dedicated to her coupon binder (and her coupon 101)! This may seem a little extreme for some, but for others, who live on very tight budgets and have to deal with a lot of coupons (by choice, of course) this is FOR YOU! And I hope that you find it very helpful. I am personally jumping in feet first with this coupon binder, and will keep you posted on how things are going with it.

New Blogs Added!
I have added 2 new blogs to my list of blogs that I am following, Pink Coupon Cafe and A Thrifty Mom. Pink Coupon Cafe has deals for Harvey's and Winn Dixie. A Thrifty Mom has deals for Harvey's, Publix, Winn Dixie. They also have some of the other major stores (WalMart, Target, etc), but as you all know I enjoy looking for the deals that apply to stores here in our local area.
Why do we do this????
For those of us that clip, click and print coupons, has anyone ever asked you why you do it? I get asked a lot, why do I spend the time (or as some put it, waste the time) getting all these coupons. I clip regular coupons from my Sunday paper, and click n print coupons. I hunt for the best deals possible, and am always looking at other blogs that post about saving money. My ultimate goal, is to be one of those people who can get $150 worth of groceries for $10. No joke. And to show that I am not even kidding with that statement, I am sharing a photo album from Facebook.com , from one of my sister's friends, who has become an extreme coupon-er. Savannah Rogers, who went to school with Leighanne, does what we do on the extreme level. Savannah's Cents'Able Shopping Photo Album is her proof. But for everyone who wants to know why I do this, it's cause I'm crazy!

Using What's Already Out There
There are many other pages out on the internet that currently show us where the deals are at places like CVS, Walgreens, etc. These are the same sites that show us deals for grocery stores that are NO WHERE near us! So, for my blogs, I am not going to put emphasis on the major chain stores that everyone else posts about. I am going to do my post for the local grocery stores that are beneficial to us. Mainly Harvey's, Winn-Dixie and Publix. My personal favorite is Harvey's, because they have awesome sales on the meats. If you would like links to the other sites, please feel free to message me. A lot of the sites also have Facebook pages too, so you can follow them on Facebook.

Fruits and Veggies
Since the weekend is upon us, I thought I'd let everyone know (as long as you like cooking & eating fresh fruits and veggies) that the best deal in town for the fresh fruits and veggies is at the flea market. I like to get my fresh fruits and veggies from a squeaky voice girl at a booth down the main aisle of the flea market. I buy from her all the time and she has been known to give me a freebie here and there.
Doubling Coupons
For those that like to shop at Target, Target.com has printable coupons for Target, and you can pair them up with a manufacturer's coupon and save just a little bit more.
Diaper Shoppers - Our Best Deal (so far)
For those of us that like to clip and utilize coupons, I have discovered that Target is our best deal, if you can find Target coupons to pair up with the coupons you have clipped. Right now, Target has a deal on diapers (for those of us with little ones still in diapers) if you buy 2 cases of diapers you get a $5 gift card. If you have coupons for Huggies (either printed or clipped) and print out coupons for Huggies from the Target website, you can save $5 per case of diapers. (2 mnfr coupons and 2 Target coupons).
Very First Post.....Wow. Just Wow.
Hello Everyone!
Well here we are with our very first post, I'm excited and I hope that we will grow and get more followers for the blog as we go along. I know that this may be a slow process, but I feel good about it. There aren't too many new deals out right now, but I will post what I can, and add a lot of freebies that I find online for you. Of course, unlike many other blogs you may have seen, I will only be posting for deals local to us. (Yes, this means the Harvey's, Publix, and Winn Dixie sale deals will be posted). And if you see something you think everyone else should know about, please feel free to email me.
